The Role

Our staff will all benefit from 2 days off a week, typically split into 1 whole day and 2 half days. Cover Hosts will typically move between several different chalets in a resort, covering a morning or evening shift in each, so that every one of our staff can have an enjoyable and sustainable season while still providing an excellent holiday for our guests. 

When working in chalets, you will fulfill the usual duties of a chalet host, and make sure that you are serving delicious meals and keeping the chalet spotless so that the Ski Beat standard is consistently maintained.

 

Key Specific Duties

Generally covering half a day in a chalet, this can vary according to the shift. 

In the morning:

  • Prepare and serve a cooked breakfast.

  • Bake a cake and lay out afternoon tea for the guests return from skiing.

  • Complete some food preparation for the evening meal.

  • Clean living areas and bedrooms.

  • Generally care for your guests in a warm and friendly manner, provide resort and ski area information and resolve any issues that may arise to the best of your ability.

In the evening:

  • Cook a 3 course evening meal, serve and dine with the guests.

  • Maintain the chalet cleanliness standards and tidy up after afternoon tea and evening service.

Other resort duties may include:

  • Managing linen supplies, food & wine ordering, keeping pathways clear of ice & snow and basic maintenance.

  • Deep cleaning of chalets at beginning, middle and end of season.

  • Adhering to all local regulations, health & safety & hygiene standards.

  • Being a conscientious member of the resort team, assisting other team members as required.

 

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with the following skills:

  • A cooking qualification or ability to cook appetising meals for between 6 to 12 people.

  • Previous experience within the hospitality or service industry.

  • A love of skiing or snowboarding and all things Alpine, or a strong desire to learn. 

  • Flexibility and willingness to assist other members of the team.

  • Since most of your guests will be British, an excellent level of spoken English is essential.

You will also require:

  • An EU passport or established residency in France (Titre de Sejour) or other means of legally working a season in France. For exceptional candidates with relevant chalet experience, Ski Beat can assist with French visa and residency applications.

  • A French Bank account so that you can receive French Mutuelle health insurance payments if required (this can be setup on arrival in France). Your salary will be paid into this account.

  • Your own laptop or tablet to access company systems.

    • Dependent on experience, starting from €26,000 p.a (pro rata).
